Established in 1993, with Leonard Tan's Bintang Bukannya Satu as its first release.
In 1998, it would be acquired by EMI (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, which had acquired Happy Records SDN. BHD. the year before.
The release code was PT 30XX followed by the release format (CS, CD and CDS) respectively for cassette, compact disc and CD single.
But following the EMI acquisition, it would use the code provided by the multinational.
In 2004, the Positive Tone label would be discontinued, due to the changes in operation of its parent company. Its releases (by the artists) would be marked with the EMI label only.
