Frogman Records

Frogman Records was established in Tokyo in 1993 by a small group who met by chance at the Nishi-Azabu crossing while waiting for a club to open. The name referred to the frog, considered the first creature to make sound. They aimed to support the Japanese techno scene. News of the label spread, and within a short time over 60 demo tapes were submitted from across Japan.

The first event was held in Shibuya on December 31, 1993, with about 700 attending. A second event took place on February 5, 1994, with about 600 attending. Five months later, the label released its first vinyl, FRG001R – C.T. Scan.
