Not to be confused with BMG Bertelsmann. Only use as label if it appears with logo in a label role.
For releases with a label logo such as RCA, Arista, Ariola or other subsidiary labels/imprints of BMG, and where the Bertelsmann Music Group logo appears on back cover only (and not on media label), Bertelsmann Music Group should not be added as a Label to LCCN. Please instead add Bertelsmann Music Group as a Record Company in LCCN.
For releases with a label logo of Bertelsmann Music Group (e.g., appears on media and packaging), including releases where another label logo may appear on media and/or packaging, please add Bertelsmann Music Group as a Label to LCCN.

Bertelsmann Music Group (abbreviated as BMG) was a division of German media company Bertelsmann before its completion of sale of the majority of its assets to Japan's label on 1 October 2008. Although it was established in 1987, the music company was formed as label in 1984 as a joint venture to combine the music label activities of label's label division and Bertelsmann's label and its associated labels which include label. It consisted of the label company, the world's third largest music publisher and the world's largest independent music publisher, and (since August 2004) the 50% share of the joint venture with label, which established the German-American label (Sony BMG) from 2004 to 2008.
