Australasian music label, founded by Hoghton Hughes in 1970. It was initially based in Christchurch, New Zealand during the 1970s and 1980s, and was eventually the successor of [L=Master (6)] although the two labels co-existed for some years. In the 1990s the parent company moved to Queensland, Australia and was based there until 2010 when Hughes moved to NSW. It is part of a complex company structure, with many sub-labels associated with the Music World label. The releases are variously credited with the New Zealand-specific company Hughes Leisure Group Ltd. (up to 2000), or more recently, V & H Holdings Pty. Ltd., for copyright, licensing and marketing.
An associated company is Music World Ltd, sometimes seen as Music World Ltd. New Zealand
For the R&B label with Beyoncé on the roster, please use the Music World Music (2).
