artist co-founded a highly profitable software company, Platinum Technology Inc., with longtime friend Andrew "Flip" Filipowski in 1987, then reorganized label into Platinum Entertainment (Inc.) in 1991. The company, which began as a gospel label, rapidly diversified into other musical fields by buying other record companies' catalogs of recordings. It also became part owner of the House Of Blues label in Chicago.
