新點子音樂 Alpha is a Taiwanese label (later renamed Alpha Music) owned by Alpha Music Co., Ltd. (former name: Alpha Records Co., Ltd.)(Later renamed:Alpha Media Music Co., Ltd.) that mainly releases Compilations (That usually contain 2 or more Discs/Tapes), Special Editons of Dance Music Albums/Maxi-Singles, and Special Editions of Korean Drama Soundtracks.
They are most well-known for their "Maxi Kingdom" series, their work on Gull (3)'s "Greatest Love Song" Laserdisc & VCD Karaoke series, and their special editions of Korean Drama Soundtracks.
Alpha is NOTORIOUS for prolifically making and using soundalikes of songs for compilations, They usually do this if they can't gain a license to a specific song, either because of disapproval or because of budget reasons.
Their soundalikes were made by Kingdom Studio, BlissCo & Audidhm Audio.
Soundalikes made by Kingdom Studio & Audidhm Audio are sung by unknown artists.
Soundalikes made by BlissCo were usually sung by Jeffrey Jey and Roberta Bacciolo (It could also be possible some soundalikes are sung by Viviana Presutti, Their voices when compared to each other are unsettlingly extremely simular)
This label used to be a pirate label from the 1970s to early 1980s, then in the late 1980s to early 1990s made soundalike compilations, then in the mid 1990s started making compilations that contain both soundalikes and licensed songs.
For whatever reason, Entries from the Maxi Kingdom series only use black and white colors in the inside of the inlay (what you see when you take the disc out of the case), Every other series from Alpha uses color inlays, This seems to be done to save money on printer ink, All booklets from before late 1998 are in black and white as well.
Most compilations after late 1999 do have color inlays and color booklets however.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If another label's logo also appears on an Alpha release, Please DO NOT add it to the Label field unless you are confident that label aided in the production of the ENTIRE release, Like the countless soundalike albums produced jointly by & Alpha (ex. ).Alpha usually put other labels' logos on the Top, back(uncommon), & spine (only on Cassettes) of Slipcases to indicate that label produced the title track of the release, Sometimes it's there to indicate that label is where all or almost all tracks are licensed from (ex. & w/ ), Or in rare cases, It's there to indicate that entity sponsored the release (ex. sponsored by & sponsored by & ).
