Disc

Disc was a collaborative project of experimental electronic musicians Drew Daniel and Martin Schmidt (Matmos), Miguel Depedro (Kid606) and Jason Doerck (Lesser). The group utilized etched, painted and defective compact discs and DAT cassettes on broken players to produce their radical glitch and sample collage music. Disc albums are notable for an innovative usage of physical media. For example, the debut album Gaijincd4 included a bonus non-functional multimedia disc, and other releases have hidden "negative" tracks only accessible by a traditional CD-player and not by a computer CD-ROM.

Disc released four CDs on Vinyl Communications in 1997-1998, including a collaboration with Japanese noise artist K.K. Null. The group's only vinyl release was a 2x12-inch ‘DJ tool’ record with 10 songs and 105 locked grooves, issued by Deluxe Records in 1999. Since then, the project appears to be inactive.
