Windy City' was formed in 2004 as a successor to the soul/funk band called 'Asoto Union'. Initially, during 2004-2005, they played Latin boogaloo, funk, and reggae music. However, after they released their second studio album, "Countryman's Vibration (2007)," they shifted their focus to reggae music with a Korean identity, which became the symbol of the band. In 2012, they achieved significant musical success with the release of their mini-album titled "모십니다 (Moshimnida)." Since then, they have continued to build upon their Korean reggae roots while exploring various musical attempts such as dub, afrobeat, and more.
Windy City is exploring a theme centered around "A journey to discover roots and essence," moving beyond "just music for the sake of music." They continue to express the concept of "Roots and culture," which becomes clearer through their international performance tours. Recently, Windy City has regrouped with leader Kim Ban-jang at the core, who has concluded his rural life, and they are gearing up for new musical activities.
