Noise musician from Basque Country, who has collaborated with artists such as Eddie Prévost, Tony Conrad, Radu Malfatti, Taku Sugimoto, Junko, Werner Dafeldecker and many more. Also used to run W.M.O./r.
Mattin is an artist, musician and theorist working conceptually with noise and improvisation. Through his practice, writing and pedagogy, he explores performative forms of estrangement as a way to deal with structural alienation. He has lectured and taught in institutions such as Dutch Art Institute, Cal Arts, Bard College, Paris VIII, Princeton University and Goldsmiths College. In 2017, he completed a Ph.D. at the University of the Basque Country under the supervision of the Ray Brassier.
Along with Anthony Iles he has edited the book "Noise & Capitalism" (2009). In 2012, a book collecting his writing, interviews, and performance reviews, titled "Unconsitituted Praxis" was published. Urbanomic published his book "Social Dissonance" in 2022. Since 2020, he co-hosts the podcast Social Discipline with Miguel Prado (2). Mattin is an associate professor at the Tromsø Academy of Arts at UiT–The Arctic University of Norway.
