Canadian-born American folk singer, guitarist, banjoist, songwriter, radio host, and author (born February 7, 1920, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; died September 30, 2016, Great Neck, New York, USA). Since 1945, he had been the host of the Folksong Festival show on WNYC Radio, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the record holder for the longest running radio program with a single host.
