John Doan

American multi-instrument musician (born May 16, 1951 in Santa Monica, California).

20-string harp guitar player, but also proficient in both classical and contemporary guitar styles and on Renaissance lute.

Doan received a bachelor degree in music from California State University, Northridge. Later, he completed a Masters in Musical Education degree at Western Oregon University and served on its faculty. Between 1977 and 2019, he was a music professor at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. For more than 30 years, he performed an annual holiday show there, "A Victorian Christmas", in which he recreated the music played at Christmas celebrations a hundred years ago. In the 1990s, Oregon Public Broadcasting broadcast this show as "A Victorian Christmas With John Doan" and received an Emmy nomination for "Best Entertainment Special of the Year."
