American rhythm and blues vocal group, formed in 1955 in Detroit, Michigan.
The first lineup released only their first single 1782342: Eddie Floyd, Robert Manardo, artist, artist, Tom Shelter.
By the time of the 629289 single, the lineup was Eddie Floyd, Sir Mack Rice, artist, artist and artist. This lineup stayed together through
1086472, after which Wilson Pickett replaced artist
Before the release of 728187 in 1963 they disbanded when artist got drafted and Eddie Floyd and Wilson Pickett weren't always available.

He took a group known as artist (who recorded on label, Apollo Records (2) and Contour (3) and were artist on label) and made them The Falcons.
Towards the end of the 60s into the 70s original members began to come back under the Falcons name.
The second incarnation of The Falcons continued performing as artist.
