California-based producer, arranger, songwriter (IPI #: 122232725), multi-instrumentalist musician, photographer and filmmaker, born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1959. Known as "Steve The Scotsman Harvey."
Son of a musician, and took piano lessons at age six, became a drummer at age 10. At age 16, joined his father's band, touring the nightclub circuit in Aberdeen. In the 1980s, formed/joined funk, soul, R&B, jazz, disco and fusion bands, and became a songwriter. Relocated to London, England, in 1979 and became a session musician.
In 1984, formed another band and recorded "Something Special," which was picked up by London Records, where he became a renowned writer/producer.
From working with Total Contrast, began working with Atlantic, and relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 1990. As a producer, has worked with Frank McComb, The Temptations, Impromp2, The Commodores, Modern Talking and others.
Was a staff writer at Chrysalis Music/MCA Music group and EMI/SBK Music for 20 years. Owner of Scotland Yard (3) Studios 1 and 2, in Hollywood, California, until 1999, then relocated studio operations to Malibu, California.
